On September 26, 2009, the Philippines was devastated by Typhoon Ondoy/Ketsana and we all have been a witnessed to the havoc brought to our fellow Filipinos especially in Metro Manila. Days later, while our fellow Filipinos are still trying to recover from the destruction brought about by Typhoon Ondoy not only in their properties but in their lives, another typhoon hit the northern part of the Philippines...the supertyphoon Pepeng. One catastrophic incident that this typhoon had brought was the landslide which occurred in the early morning while people are still sleeping somewhere in the province of Benguet that killed more than 200 Filipinos....this does not include the many Filipinos that had died in other areas during Typhoon Ondoy. We have seen the sufferings of our fellow Filipinos in all the local and international news reports and the pictures that depicts their current unfortunate situations. Though there are many kindhearted individuals and organizations who are donating to help alleviate the plight of the many victims, we feel that a lot more is needed to help them.

It is for this reason that we are putting up a benefit concert entitled "One Voice...One Heart" scheduled on Saturday, October 17, 2009, 8:00 p.m. to be held at The Gateway Centre for New Canadians through the cooperation of The Gateway Centre for New Canadians Disaster Relief Fund Ad Hoc Committee. Of course, this event would not be possible without the generous support of all the Filipino-Canadian performers and the production staff who had offered to donate their time and talents to put up a show for everyone. This is a "No Ticket" (FREE ENTRANCE) event; instead, cash donations will be accepted at the entrance before the show and all the proceeds will be given to the victims of the two typhoons through the Philippine Relief and Development Agency based in the Philippines. Please come join us...be part of this event and be one with our fellow Filipinos who are now suffering from this unfortunate calamity. Let's help and stand united!
